Sustainability in the Quad by Chris Williams

The quad is always an interesting place to be. The picture shown here is a little piece of how many people come and go during the day and in between classes. There are always stands and sometimes even cooking going on in an attempt to advertise something. This poses a threat to the sustainability of the quad.

1. The best example of sustainability practices in the quad would be the practice of recycling and throwing away trash. There are many dispensaries along the quad for recycling and for trash.

2. Examples of non-sustainability is the trash that does not make it to the trash can. With hundreds and maybe even thousands of people passing through in a day along with stands being set up there is going to be trash that ends up on the ground. This is where the threat comes in to sustainability and high impact of the quad.

3. To lessen the negative impact the quad is having on the environment people could possibly either lessen the amount of stands there are on a given day or get rid of them all together. Also, advertising for cleaning up could be helpful too. The people who put stands out in the quad could come out on a day during the week and help pick up trash and other things the threaten the environment.

4. One way I could convince others to help the environment is by advertising to people in the quad or have an organization specifically for the purpose of cleaning up the quad. Advertising is exactly where all the trash comes from so why not advertise to clean up the trash. If people realized what throwing paper on the ground did they would maybe think twice next time and just throw it away in the trash.
