~*Adventures into the Quad*~ By Kristi Barrientos

My adventure into the quad was quite exciting! The weather was amazing and there were few people in this picture to get a great shot on how the quad looked. Although, there was quite an enormous amount of greenery around the area, trash was in all different places from the ground to benches. In the second photo, this is an example of people being lazy and throwing trash wherever they feel like it instead of recycling it.

1. The best examples of sustainable practices in this particular area were the different recycle bins that were outside along with trashcans to keep the quad looking clean. Another example would be environmentalists roaming the quad asking for people to participant in helping to improve the environment.

2. The worst examples of high environmental impacts were the people. In the afternoons, we have people cooking and selling food. This results to more build up in trash and smoke around the area which can cause a major problem if the area is not clean.

3. Some short term remedies would be simply to just get rid of people making BBQ outside the quad and advertising their clubs. Many people from these organizations hand out flyers which eventually end up on the ground. By getting rid of these people for campaigning and cooking it reduces the problem.  A long-term remedy would be to keep recycling after awhile if we continue the cycle it would catch on and people won't even have to think twice about whether or not to throw their trash.

4. They way I would convince others into making little impact on the environment is simply by speaking out. Using your voice is the best thing you could do for people to hear you. I would also create an organization into helping save the environment by announcing it daily on the intercoms of school buildings and even turning to the television to help speak out to the public.
